Well said!

My comments on this issue were intended at a slightly less lofty level.

My contention was, (and is), that there is a difference between 'Quality'
and its lack.

Certainly, value judgements are subjective. But, I have seen products which
are 'well engineered' and 'well made', and those which were not.

I once paid 50 cents for a Taiwan made corkscrew which broke off in the cork
before opening the bottle of wine. I don't feel that it is merely a value
judgement to call that item a piece of junk!

In photography as well as other fields, a skilled craftsman is a genuine
find! While all of us may occasionally stumble upon a wonderful result, I
don't believe that random thoughtless work creates consistant quality, in
any endeavor.

And, I respect anyone's right to pursue their inner instincts and enjoy
their own tastes. 'Bucky' Fuller rediscovered the tetrahedron and came up
with the Geodesic Dome because of a problem with his eyesight, which
prevented him from accurately seeing and copying the architechture that was
already around him.

Let's hear it for individual vision!

But, let's hear it for quality too!
