I guess I missed the sentence in the list charter where it says that
the list is run for the benefit of the "old-timers" (or maybe that should
be "old-farts"?).

I really hope both of you were being deadpan tongue-in-cheek, 'cause if
you two aren't going to continue to educate the newcomers like me on this
list because you've "said it already", well, then everybody loses.

On the other hand, if the self-appointed censors on the list are going
to try to quash on-topic discussions because they're "tired of them",
well, I for one say "good riddence".

The archives ain't no substitute for a spirited interactive discussion,
otherwise you could replace this list with a FAQ and save everybody a
bit of angina.  Besides, the archives are "spotty", I think that was
Bob Wier's word for it.
