Yes - like the olden days (a year ago) something weird is going
on downstairs in the bowels of the admin building. For the last
week or so, the net goes down (either to the outside or once
just boom - DEAD even internally) every morning about 1AM and
stays down until someone comes in and reboots. Since I am
separate from the computer center and they don't ever say much
about these kinds of problems, I dunno when it might get fixed.
The difficulity is that as noted previously, the listserv robot attempts
to send digests in the early morning hours, if it can. If bobcat
is up (and it is 99.4% of the time) but the net is down, problems
occur. Listserv will attempt to send the digests, but if an inordinate
number of errors occur, it will sometimes back up a few names and
restart. If you happen to be on the subscriber list in the wrong
part (not under your control) you may either receive duplicate mailings
or nothing at all.
Hopefully this will clear in a reasonable amount of time!
