photo cynicism...

I am becoming more cynical and wish it weren't so...
The general population seems to be embracing ignorance, though I
know neither the reason nor the cause - nor even if my impressions
are correct.
I mention this because there has been some concern and optimism in
the rebirth and/or resurgence of photographic stereo 3-D.
The percipitating event was the discovery that a local "Camera Store,"
one of the last, few remaining "real" camera stores remaining, was
closing its doors, going belly-up, vanishing...
I surmise the reason is partly that the general population is not
interested in doing anything that would require them to know what
and how they are doing it. Photography is different from taking
pictures. People seem to want to buy their cameras at grocery
stores, and the knowledge they have is that if you push the button
and pay money, someone will give you a stack of really awful looking
images on paper. Good enough. Can you load the film in the camera
for me? Maybe I should just buy a camera with the film already
in it then throw the d*** thing away when I pay the money for the
dreadful looking paper images.
I don't think these people will embrace 3-D photography.
There are apparently not enough of the rest of us to keep "real"
camera stores in business.
It doesn't look good - not with cheap plastic lenses.
...sigh
What medication is there for that?
