I'd forgotten that--it turns out that the grad student who worked on that
study, Shin Shimojo (now a prof. at Tokyo University, I think) will be
joining the faculty here at Caltech in March; we could bug him then.  (He
also did an interview with Bela Julesz for one of the Japanese stereogram
books, I forget which one).
