Of course, Charlie Piper has never been known to NOT speak up in his life (after
he passes away, he'll probably criticize his own funeral!). But in general, SCSC
members have nothing but respect for V-M. We recently held the first V-M series
competition which drew entries from many members and from throughout PSA. Once
every year or two we include at least one program of V-M format slides. Charles
van Pelt and a gentleman from Disney whose name escapes me have presented V-M
programs in recent months, and our current president, Mitch Walker, is a
particularly rabid V-M enthusiast. David Starkman has often expressed his
admiration for the V-M stereo projector, which we use in ways far beyond its
rated capabilities (filling an 80" screen with a sharp, bright image when it is
recommended for no more than a 40" screen, for instance). Incidentally, Gruber's
grandson Stefan is occasionally active in SCSC when his art classes don't
interfere.
