RE:JGORE asks how do you get from Realist slide to GIF?
The Realist part is the sticker..slides to GIF..A camcorder and Snappy,
A Tamron Fotovix II and Snappy, an expensive slide scanner which none do
as well as they might (Good discourse at:
http://www.photonpub.co.uk/photon if you dig into back issues.)
I can take any slide to my camera shop and on their Kodak scanner they
will make me any format to disk for $5. If I want photo-cd grade I have
to bring a Syquest disk and mine and theirs aren't compatilbe. I have
slides made into Photo-CDs too. Cheapest in the long run. Now the
Realist is tough because good ones are in glass and may have to be
removed AND you have to get the service to fuss with the offbeat format.
I intend tu use my Fotovix II and Snappy to do stereo pair when I get to
it. The deluxe slide scanners are set up for 2x2 or strip film in 35mm,
probably not in glass. Not a pretty picture. BobH
(A cheap and dirty way...from scratch..shoot color neg. Get someone to
print them 4x6 frame unmasked. Use EZPhoto copier to scan cut prints
into computer.) Print from slide film too expensive so might just as
well try to get a direct scan??
