I'm with George - on both of my Realists, if you just leave it in
rewind mode when you load the film, the sprocket wheel turns freely.
Just pull the film thru the guide, and thread it onto the take up spool.
Once firmly attached, turn to "A"(dvance) and wind off a couple of 
exposures. I've been doing this since the shorter leaders came
into play...
