This is apparently some new breed of JPG file. My Photoshop 3.05 (you can't get
much more sophisticated than that) could not read them; however, a shareware
program called L View Pro could. I used L View to convert them into traditional
TIF files, which I then manipulated in Photoshop to reverse the two sides,
making them viewable by my lorgnette viewer, which my poor ill-behaved eyes
need.
