Circle of confusion ...

Humans are just built with two eyes and that's how we see - even
you and Bill. Maybe Bill's system uses "circle of confusion" as
the encoding path but people don't.
People _may_ have two eyes - but, we all _see_ with one brain.
The processing after the image leaves the eyes and enters the
brain is what really counts. The brain is a marvelous image
processor - my experiences with creating SIRDS showed that the
pixel size could be huge and still produce _depth_ - When I
build my house I've been thinking about a SIRDS built into the
brickwork - I'd bet it would work.
But, back to my original theme - The brain decodes depth
information, not the eyes - if the system works (and I'm way too
slow to understand the whys being discussed here) then go for
it!
