Chinese 3D

You may have noticed some advertisements, in collectable camera
publications, placed by a Li Weimin of Henan, China. What caught my was not
the beam-splitter mentioned my Li Weimin, but his indication that he had a
list of more items. My interest was sufficiently piqued to write Li Weimin.
About two months after writing, I received a letter in reply. It contained
two enclosures. One was a list of "collectable" chinese cameras. Almost all
of them were Twin Lens Reflex cameras (TLR). Some were of the Seagull and
Great Wall variety, of which I was aware. However, there were a good dozen
more brands of TLRs that I've never heard of, such as Pearl river, Five
Goats or Hu Qiu. He also has some expensive Chinese Leica copies for $1,920.
Anyway, there were two stereo entries:
Stereo Splitter & viewer, instruction booklet in maker's box - $46 airmail
Stereo Slide viewer & Stereo Glasses $46 airmail.
He/she also enclosed a color brochure, written in Chinese, illustrating five
versions of the Nimslo camera, four lens technology. Li Weimin's marginalia
shows his prices for these five cameras running from $72 for a camera e/w
external hot-shoe flash, to $208 for what I guess is the top of the line
model. I can't readily see what the differences are between the various
models, but I'm going to ask a Chinese friend to translate the text. The
manufacturer of the cameras is a company called CHEUNGYUN, and their
telephone number seems to be (0750)3312762. The brochure also shows a
commercial lab processing machine. Each camera is marked with the name
AIRTEC. They look a lot like the ImageTec Wizard, except for four lens
instead of three.
Of interest is Li Weimin's trusting method of doing business. He says to
write or fax him your desired camera and he will ship immediately. Upon
receipt he asks that you return an International Money Order, check or cash.
What refreshing trust. I hope that no one cheats him.
If you are interested, you can write him at Li Weimin, North
6-3-3-1-102#Jianxi, Luoyang Henan 471003. He lists a fax number of
0086-379-4911485, but no voice telephone number.
