Stereo Club in Cleveland?

After 2 years of driving to Detroit every month to attend the meetings of
the Detroit Stereographic Society, photo-3d member Jim Motley is seriously
looking at the possiblity of starting our own stereo club in Cleveland.
This has been a dream of mine for a few years now and thanks to Jim it
is getting closer to reality.

Jim is calling our future club: "Greater Cleveland Stereographic Society"
(name not very original, we are open to suggestions) and it will be
modeled after the Detroit club (with some improvements ;)) with monthly
meetings, programs, and competitions, based on the "Standard Realist
Format" (1 5/8" x 4") slides projected by a TDC or equivalent projector.

In order to attract potential members we plan to do the following:

- haul around our TDC projector and present 3d slide shows to local
  photographic clubs
- mail letters to all local NSA members
- advertise in local papers and magazines

We would like feedback from people actively involved in clubs on how
to go about starting a new club. What do we need to do or watch out for?
What is the connection between stereo clubs and PSA? Is PSA offering
any support or guidelines? Does the club need to be a non-for-profit
organization? How do we decide on member fees, officers, etc.?

We are still looking at the details... We are looking for a meeting place
in Independence at the interesection of 480 and 77, in case any Cleveland
photo-3d members are reading this.

Any feedback will be appreciated!!! Thank you! -- George and Jim
