They were probably getting pretty orangey too. The tungsten deposits
inside non-halogen bulbs plays havoc with color temp.
It's a curiosity to me though, why it is that as the tungsten wire gets
thinner while depositing itself all over the inside of the bulb, that the wire
should be burning brighter and bluer, yet the output is so filtered as to give
entirely opposite results.
Just musing.
