As a MFstereophile I'll answer some of this:

  I found the magnification too high also (in the viewer that Don
Lopp [not on the list] generously donated). I measured an estimated
focal length of the lenses as 65mm. The proper (ortho) FL should be
around 80mm. I had trouble seeing the edges due to the high magnification
lenses and lack of nose space.

  At the time I had my own MF viewer with 140mm FL lenses. I enjoyed
the slides more using it, than Don's viewer, even though the magnification
was too low. At least I could see the whole image. My brother Pat
like Don's viewer better. So it depends on the person.

  I now have some ortho and achromatic lenses in my viewer (82mm FL)
and it is excellent. Wish I could see those expo2 MF's again :)

  The KI is the only one on the market that I know of.
