Re: 5p vs. 7p and beyond (RBT S1)

Allan, I understand how the 5p stereo format came about to save
on film. From the opposite size of the spectrum comes the RBT S1
format. RBT, in a effort to provide a full-frame 35 mm pair with
a reasonable interocular, is leaving film of 4p size blank between
any pair. This results in 15 full-frame pairs in a 36 exp. roll
(instead of 18).

I think this is a clever choice. Film is relatively cheap today.
(This was not the case in 1947, I don't think.) Having a camera
with a reasonable interocular spacing, that can be used for
close-ups, is much more important than getting a few extra pairs
out of a roll, IMO.

I will soon be writing more about the RBT and the results of
spending two fun weeks together. Right now I am busy packing
up and returning this baby to its ownwer.
