The real advantage of this approach is that now the truly dedicated 3D
enthusiast can wear the headset *all the time*.

Of course, like a wedding ring, the headset will tend eventually to get
stuck, and you'll hear parents making remarks like:
   "Help me take off this VR headset, son. Just once, I want to see you
   with *my own eyes*."

(Those too young to have seen the "Star Wars" movies may disregard the
previous joke, and insert references to "Lawnmower Man". :-)
