RE: Past posts have mentioned with reverance the Belplasca..at first
having confused this in my mind with (I think) the Italian Duaflex
that took stereo pairs on 127 film, I wondered if it was the larger
split 127 image (which hardly differs from 35mm full frame) what all
the fuss was about. Later I noted they seem to be talking about a
35mm camera. (You must remember I am a stereo photographer
and have lived in isolation until getting onto photo-3d.) So I
checked my old McKeown and found there was an uninspiring
Belca Werk in Dresden which had made a folder and somehow in
1955 era a stereo. Still with Jena lenses (Tessar being unmentionable
if it is to be exported due to trademark war with West) it might be
interesting. So to the search engine InfoWizard that searches all the
WEB Seach engines. I found Eric advertising for interesting stereo
cameras Focaflex F40 and Belplasca. I found Reel-3D selling the
instruction book, and found Web-3d who must have mentioned it.
BUT HARK! I found the Belplaca HOME PAGE, a German collector
who says this must be the only one? It is in German, but if you click
on the Union Jack it becomes English. A tiny thumbnail of the
Belplasca allowed me to see one. The page owner says its
fame is Jena (Tessar) lenses and quality construction. Has
some interesing links..only knows of in our circle. Jens Malgren
one of the links in Sweden..could use photo-3d I think. BobH
(I can't see where a Belplaca would be better than a f/2.8
Realist unless you wanted the European format 24x30mm.
To me a guillontine shutter is superior to synced leaf shutter.)
