Reread the first sentence of the cited passage again. To me, it comes out
"The [current] software games designed for use [possibly included] with
CyberShades require [read: use] a screen resolution of 320x200. [We didn't
write the software to use 640x480 or any other resolution, because we're
selling hardware, not writing games.] Use the [etc.]. [If you can't run at
320x200, you won't be able to use this software.]"

The operation of LCD shutters is dependant on timing factors of interlace
and synchonization, not the number of dots, and the computer is controlling
both interlace and synch, not the shades. The glasses will do what the
computer tells them, within the limits they were designed for.
