I'll tell you this story and then you decide: Someone had a new Nishika
for sale. I helped him post twice in the list asking $50. Nobody
responded. I offered to help and try and sell it for $50 myself. I took it
to the NSA convention in Rochester and put it in my table at the trade show
priced at $60. For two days it sat there unsold. It was complete in 3
boxes never opened. Camera, case, flash, video, instructions, the works.
Even a pair of batteries for the flash! Everything "unopened". The last
hour of the show someone bought it and was happy to get such a bargain!
He even asked me if I had one for his baby brother!
The Nimslo is more sophisticated (better exposure system) etc. The Nishika
has a lot of fake features like a piece of metal to make it feel heavier.
I do not know if you can see a difference in prints in terms of optical
quality. My advise is to look for a used Nimlso at $99 or less or a Realist
Kodak Stereo (these two especially for slides) for a bit more.
If you feel like spending $280 anyways then consider both a Nimlso for
prints and candid shots _and_ a Realist/Kodak for slides and you have
change left for a decent slide viewer!
IMO, George
