In our lifetime?  Maybe!  Remember, there's more compute power in your 
digital watch these days than there was in the world 50 years ago!  Who 
know what will happen in the next 50 years.  Maybe the 100x86 :-) :-)

Besides, all it takes to generate a 3D view from a 2D view is...

        1. Edge detect all the elements

        2. Create a second view by augmenting the elements
           detected by the proper amount to generate a second POV

        3. Viewing the two images with some sort of 3D viewing
           method.

Problems?  Sure!  We need programs that do good edge detection and 
programs that have a "knowledge" or "rule base" of what's in front and 
what's in back.  Simple in theory.  A bit more difficult in design.
