Toys R Us is the only place I knew of to buy a Viewmaster viewer without 
sending away for it, so I went shopping in their VM corner. I found the 
display interesting. They have several versions of viewers, and their 
reels are exclusively kid stuff, Disney, comic book characters, and so 
on. I bought a viewer for Sally to give her with the wonderful Mandate 
reel which I had ordered for her some time ago. (Of course I didn't buy 
the Mandate reel at Toys R Us, Jamie. It would never compete with 
Batman!)

Jamie, I'll let you know when I hear back from her about how it went at 
the Asian Art Museum. "Splendors" will be showing until early in 
December, and this exhibit is very hot in SF right now. Sally is one of 
the docents. She remarked upon viewing the Mandate reel, "I'm glad you 
gave it to me now, before the exhibit is over. I want to take it in and 
show some people who helped set up Splendors how they could have done 
much better with background silks!"  I told her how carefully you chose 
the background setting for each piece, and she was impressed. As for the 
3D effect, time will tell whether this aspect of your reel made the 
impression I am hoping for. Sally seemed thrilled with the viewer and the 
reel. She did mention that the Splendors exhibit is selling a CD-Rom of 
the exhibit. I assume it is computer art (what else could it be? Music?). 
I'm sure it is not in 3D. I think I mentioned that I gave her the insert 
from the Reel 3D catalog which advertises the closeout sale of the 
Chinese art reels. I warned her that if she orders them, they may be of 
much lower quality than the Mandate reel. I'll be interested to find out 
if she orders them, and I'll report back what happens.
