3Discover info

I went to the mall today to see the 3Discover display the they set up
for the official launch, which is today. The people manning the booths
were not direct representives of Wrebbit but, but a company contracted
to do the display. In any case, I did get to gauge peoples reactions
to the viewer and it seemed to be overall very positive. They were
very curious and found the titles interesting. Two points I would like
to mention is that from what I learned is that the cassettes if purchased
from the stores will cost in Canada $6.99 as opposed to getting them
direct from Wrebbit for $9.99. The problem is the stores don't carry
all the titles, but they can order them from Wrebbit for the $6.99 price.
The viewer is still the same price in the stores or from Wrebbit. Of
course these are the retail prices. To those who wish to order one from
outside N.America, I will try to get the titles at the new price. As I
don't do this as a business, I will have to charge the sales tax that I
would have to pay even thou it is for export.

The second bit of interesting news is alot of people that were looking at
the viewer were commenting if you can take your own pics to display with
the viewer. These are lay people we are talking about. I found that
interesting and must have similiar parallels to VM in that regard.
(BTW they mentioned that someone from VM wished Wrebbit the best of luck
on their product launch and mentioned something to the effect they beat
them to it??) Now knowing how this company operates I think that might be
possible. They make 3d puzzles which involves active participation on the
part of the person to construct it. As the viewer is more a passive viewing
device I would imagine they would want to make it something more, where the
people would be more involved with the device other than simple viewing.
I asked them about being able to make our own pics also of course. Getting
back to the interesting thing about all this is that they mentioned that
they are looking into it and in their latest brochure they mention just
that. I think they must have gotten the same question alot in their
marketing research. Here is an excerpt from their product brochure that
they were handing out to the public.

>Can I use it for personal pictures?
At the moment, no - although research teams are conducting
feasability studies. The 3Discover photographers use techniques
and equipment especially made for the viewer.<

The brochure this is printed on is in the form of the 3Discover viewer
with the same dimensions. The front of the brochure shows the complete
front of the viewer and likewise with the back, it shows the rear part
of the viewer. Inside the brochure is the literature about the viewer.
Wrebbit has put up a small promotion on one of the french newspapers
web site here in Montreal. All it basically says is that its a stereo
viewer concieved in Quebec and that you can view in 3d distortion free
pictures as if you were really there. Ahem. Also they mention new titles
will be coming out on different subjects. You can also see a nice pic
of the viewer and cassette in 2d on the page. Here is the link.

Or you can see it in 3d anaglyph on my web space, as mentioned previously
