My guess is the shutter speed ring was taken from a 2.8 Realist (maybe
the cover was broken on the camera in question and the whole - black -
face plate was transferred from a 2.8 Realist parts camera).

To elaborate on this issue, I refer to Charles Piper's "The Technical
Page." He states the timing mechanisms in the 3.5 and 2.8 Realists are
the same. Without directly saying so, Piper strongly insinuates that it
is only the indicators on the adjusting ring that are marked
differently. This begs further questions: Is there really no
difference in the mechanism (including tension springs), such that 1/150
on the 3.5 Realist performs no differently than the 1/200 on the 2.8?
Is there "an extra (different) spring/gear/cam/whatever in the 2.8 that
increases the high end shutter speed so it is truly 1/200 Vs 1/150 for
the 3.5, or were the 2.8's simply given a more critical factory
adjustment at the time of manufacture?
