Dave, the video you bought was shot in Pulfrich.

The reason it didn't work in slo-mo or in pause was because for Pulfrich to
work you need horizontal parlax of moving images to gain depth.

Pulfrich can be quite effective as you have seen on your video.  Alot of
people in the 3-D community don't like it mainly because of its limitations.
I have shot some my self, and It can be a lot of fun.

You can shoot it to.  Have some one drive a car with you shooting video out
of the passenger seat holding the camera strait  out the window ( not toward
the front or back of the car, it must be pointed at a right angle to the
front of the car).  When you get home watch the tape with your pulfrich
glasses, or put a dark lense of a pair of sunglasses over your right eye,
and you will see 3-D!
