View Master Strangeness (was fuzzy)

Last weekend my wife and I were at the I-Max Theatre in NY, and certainly I
raided the gift shop (they advertize 30 to 50% off). I picked up the repro
stereo cards and the VM blister pack, "Across The Sea of Time". Within the
VM set I noticed on reel B, view 5 ("Thomas Minton enjoying the sights in
Chinatown"), that the boy's eyes looked a bit odd. Further examination
showed that in the left view, the boy is looking slightly up and to the
right (looking at a fish); in the right view, he's looking pronouncedly to
the left. What gives here? I've noticed this oddity in antique views from
time to time, but have attributed it to the shutters being slightly out of
synch. But in this VM set, how did this occur especially in a set which
retails for nearly three times the usual price? This isn't a complaint,
mind you. I'm more than thankful for all new VM packets which use actual
(traditional?) photography. Outside of this strangeness, this is certainly
a lovely set. BTW, the VM set cost $7.00 and the repro cards (set of 10,
fairly nice repro, although we've all seen better) was $3.98.
Best,
Bob
