I agree that existing-light photography is exciting and rewarding and
needs to be tried more often. However, and for the purpose of balance
of opinions, let me add that the statement above is a bit in the extreme.
Flash stereo photography can be also good and not just for snapshots.
I have shot two weddings relying on flash. Results were excellent.
The "Portrait of the Bride", which I shot in the first wedding while
the bride was resting on a church seat, is one of my best people
stereos and so is the picture of my daughter shot 3 years ago with
a puppie in her lap in a farm. Those who see those pictures
realize the value of 3d for people photography. In addition to
balancing off-color light, most children, especially babies, would
not stay still for one second. The short burst of the flash freezes
even the most hyperkinetic child. Makes your stereos absolutely sharp.
I use it often and I like it.
