George Themelis said...

"The question now is: How am I going to make my kids enjoy and appreciate 3d
and follow their father's footsteps?"

and...

"My kids? I am concerned when I see them close one eye in the red button
viewer. I think their interocular distance is too small to use these viewers
(and certainly any VM viewer!) and be impressed by the 3d effect."

Maybe the answer for George and some of the rest of us is to get 'em a LOREO!

Why?

1. Reasonably good stereo pictures with a minimum of hassle or expertise.
2. Interocular is not much of an issue with the (cluncky/horrid, IMHO) large
viewer.

They won't get images that compare with a transparency viewed in a
red-button viewer, but they will get 3-D images that are *theirs*.
The adjustability of the camera, though minor, will allow an opportunity
for parent/child discussions of f-stop and exposure, fill-flash, etc.
They may soon get tired of the limitations and want to borrow Dad's
new(old) Realist or even his RBT(yes, I predict... maybe not now, but soon
and for the rest of his life... at least until inexpensive photo-quality
digital :=)).
Even if they don't, and stay with low-quality 3D or set it aside, the
seeds will be planted for future possible interest.

Do consider painting the unused reflective surfaces, though...
