Lunar stereo

I have a suggestion for a simple approach to stereo photos of the moon:
take aerial hypers flying over the Grand Canyon instead! Virtually
everyone who has looked at my aerial stereos of the Grand Canyon has
exclaimed "What *is* this? It looks like the *moon*!" Now it never
struck me that the photos looked like the moon; of course I already
*knew* what they really were, and couldn't imagine why people were
saying this. When I picture the moon, I picture the bright white
face it shows us in the night sky, without stopping to think about
what the surface of the moon itself really looks like. Apparently,
the Grand Canyon bears quite a resemblance to many people's mental
image of the moon's surface. (One person who has never been to the
Grand Canyon also remarked that she thought my Realist slide taken
from the rim looked like the moon, except for the presence of a few
green plants in the image.)
