Realist Format Print Processing

A number of people on Photo-3D have asked where to get Realist format
print film developed properly. Here's maybe another place to try.

In the Portland Oregon area, a few of us Cascade Stereo Club members go
to a film processor that has agreed to handle Realist format print film.
We always tell them the film is in Stereo format. From that information
they know to use their special template they have made just for the
Realist format. We also ask for a print size of 3 1/4" by 3 1/4" for each
half of the stereo pair. I'm not sure if this shop would be receptive to
varying that size much but you could certainly try. Size shouldn't be
much of a problem but varying the format away from Realist I think would
be. I showed him some NIMSLO negatives and asked if they could print them
but they didn't care to get into that.

Prices are somewhat higher than standard print processing, but after
all, it is custom processing. For local processing, it's not too bad but
if you have to resort to mail order it gets a little spendy. I checked with
the processor this afternoon and here are the prices he quoted me. There are
no guarantees on this price. It is probably best to call the first time
anyway.

        To develop the film....................... $1.99
Price of printing each frame...............$ .33
Shipping and handling in cardboard mailer @2.00

For example, if you had a roll of 18 stereo pairs and all were good,
it would cost you 18 X 2 X .33 = $11.88 + $1.99 + $2.00 = $15.87. This
is considerably higher than Price Costco and other discount processors
but it appears to be in the price range of what many photo shops charge.
You will need to mount the stereo prints on your own card stock, but
at least the prints will be cut to the size requested.

I specifically asked if they would mind if I would put their name out
on the Photo-3D mail list and they gave me the OK on that so here it is:

        Action Fast 1 Hr. Photo
        9889 SW Barbur Blvd
        Portland, OR 97219

        Phone: (503) 245-9898
        Fax: (503) 245-3947

Finally, (how does this go)? My notice of this service is neither an
endorsement or a recommendation. I take no responsibility for the
service they provide. I do believe they perform a very satisfactory
job of developing and printing. You will need to judge for yourself.

Just thought some of you might want another place to process film for
Realist format print film.

I am finding the Photo-3D mail list very helpful and even entertaining.
Thanks everyone for all the excellent information.

Les Konrad.
