Stereomatics in Europe

Keith Wilson asks what is the best way to run the 115v
 ViewMaster Stereomatic 500 over here on 220/240v
electricity.
I don't know what is the "best" way , but I can say I have
successfully run mine for several years using an industrial
transformer. These are sold in building supplies and tool 
supplies shops, and are the type used on building sites. 
The cheapest one I found 4 years ago was 35pounds. 
However it is very easy to pick these up second
hand at car boot sales or flea markets. The weekly flea market 
in our local town usually has several on the stalls selling second
hand tools. Prices are 10 to 15 pounds depending on condition.
I'd offer to look one out for you Keith , but the postage might be 
prohibitive.

Translator's note: car boot sale - quaint English weekend pastime
similar to the less sophisticated American tradition of "garage
sales".

Tourist Board note : contrary to Mr Wilson's suggestions England is
not a cold grey country - I went out today with only one layer of thermal
underwear.
