3D pic in Pop Science

In the post about the 3D picture with the Image Stabilization, I should
mention that this technology uses an optical correction method. It uses
a variable angle prism and is not only for video cams but featured in
Canon's new zoom lens for SLRs and in binoculars. Now I wonder if this
prism could be used as a 90's version Holmes type stereoscope. Long shot?
