7P+ Stereo Format

In Jonathan R. Gross' post regarding the Neotek system, there is mention of
the 7P+ stereo format:

>Image | Size (mm)| Image | Bit Map |Pixels| Bytes
> Format | H W |Aspect Ratio| H W |/Image| /Pair
>________|__________|____________|__________|______|______
>SVGA | na | 1:1.33333 | 768 1024| 786K| 4.7MB
>7+ perf | 23 31.5 | 1:1.36957 | 683 935| 639K| 3.8MB

According to his documentation, this is the format that is closest to the
proportions of a standard SVGA monitor. I believe one of the RBT cameras
also use this format. Was the 7P+ format invented by RBT, or are there other
stereo cameras that use this format? Since it covers well on a standard
monitor, could this be the future standard stereo format?
