I did see the wish for a nice summer, but I had already typed my snide
comment, and then I wasn't sure so I left it in. We are about 45 minutes
South of San Francisco, of which Mark Twain said "the worst Winter I
ever experienced was my Summer in San Francisco."
Spring will come sometime next month, then I go out with my wife to
photograph wildflowers. We have a fancy SLR with a 1:1 to infinity
autofocusing macro lens, and a neat through-the-lens meter. However,
quite often the incident light measurements are fooled by the little
flowers. Sometimes I bracket (which the camera does automatically),
sometimes I use the sunny 16 rule, and sometimes I use my ancient
Weston meter with incident light attachment. With my Wirgin all
I can use is the sunny 16 rule. All in all, the Wirgin slides are
the best exposed.
For most other photography my SLR's auto exposure works well. I feel
something is unfair up there.
