David (and photo-3d), the halogen bulb does have two problems:

1. Because very intense light is emitted from a small filament, the wires
that support the filament cast a shadow.

2. The glass which bends at the top acts as a lens creating a bright ring.

Both these two effects are visible in Realists (and other) viewers.  The
kind of reflector does not really matter because the shadows and bright
ring cast directly on the reflector.

Not many people are as picky as I am when it comes to viewer illumination. 
I like right and uniform light, nothing that can distract me from enjoying
the slide.  I ended up "frosting" the glass envelope of these halogen bulbs
and now I have perfectly uniform light.

Yes, I do offer these bulbs for sale but that's not the reason for saying
what I am saying here and promoting them.  I sell and promote only what I
