A hybrid lens with common front element and dual rear elements, designed
to cast images on a pair of CCD's.

Now, my (imaginary) approach to digital SL3D would be to use a fast-
switching LCD aperture that would alternately block the left and right
halves, feeding a single CCD. A bit weak for fast-moving objects
but maybe cheaper to build.

Theoretically, you could eliminate the glass altogether and use the LCD
aperture as a many-pinhole camera, opening every pixel in turn with the
others blocked. Take the summed image from all the left-hand pixels
for one half of a pair, and the one summed from all the right-hand pixels
for the other half. Want to rotate your 3D pic? Or vary your hypo/ortho/
hyper? Just take a different combination of pixels.

Man, where do I find an investor???
