How to get your kids interested in 3D

I'm still catching up on digests, having been without my computer for a month
recently, so I'm currently reading digests from early November, and seeing
things that I'd like to respond to but knowing that it's too late to bother,
but I have a comment that I think is probably still worth making:
Dr. T asked how to make his sons be interested in 3D photography, and
Ron Beck suggested taking them on his photo jaunts, and letting them
try taking their own stereo photographs. My wife, stereo photographer
Lori Meltzer [whose (2D) picture Jon Golden recently found in an old
high school yearbook], suggests that you give your sons two identical
cameras, such as "single-use" (disposable) Kodaks, and instruct them on
how to take two-person hyperstereo by carefully aiming their cameras at
the same subject and synchronizing their shutter releasing. If they
enjoy doing things together, this would be a way to get them to learn
about stereo and cooperation at the same time.
