Thank you George for digging my notes on the direct replacement tungsten
halogen lamps. ACtually I've submitted this a couple of times, so I am
pleased that yuou kept the info and have re-posted it.
I use the 500w halogens in my TDC 116, simply because the voltage drop is
too great when I go to twin 750 watts. The wiring in my apartment just
wasn't built to handle all that out of one line. Still, for me, the single

great advantage to the halogen bulbs is that the glass does not darken as it
ages as the old-fashioned lamps do. You can easily loose a full stop or more
just trying to pump light through the old glass. The halogens remain bright
and clear up to the end.
If you are serious about the halogen replacement lamps, you should also
acquire the insertion tool that grips the porcelain base of the lamp without
touching the glass. It makes changing the lamps a breeze.
