Coronet history

I recall Alexander Klein asking for information on Coronet 3D cameras on
photo 3D recently. Well today I opened my new edition of Photographica
World (the journal of the Photographic Collectors Club GB) , and noticed a
paragraph about the company. Not much info that will help , but I'll report
it anyway.
The article is"Fading Memory" by Eric Lock, Photographica World No79
December 1996 pp30-32.
He is writing about the disappearance of old British Photo Companies , and
in one paragraph writes
"Who has not heard of the Coronet Camera Company of Birmingham established
in 1926. Coronet made box, folding and stereo cameras all cheap , amateur
equipment. They also made under the Standard Camera label, plus exporting
models to France. The cameras were distibuted by Dufay-Chromex Ltd up to
1953, and maybe later. Coronet stereo cameras were still available in
1958/1959 and the company with a small change of name to Coronet Ltd was in
business up to 1967. What happened then?
Sadly Eric doesn't tell us.
Illustrating this paragraph is an advertisement for the Coronet 3D from
page 530 of the British Journal (Photographic ) Almanac (1956). The text
refers to one of the Coronet 3D's unusual features "The famous cameras that
take ordinary snaps or 3D pictures at the turn of a knob". (Users could
select single lens or stereo operation).
I look forward to reading the results of Alexander's researches! My example
of the Coronet 3D has never been used- I judged the splendid 1950's
graphics on the box to be the best feature.

John Bradley.
