You are absolutely right, but the industry was there ahead of this
discussion!!! The biggest problem with what you do suggest as alternatives
is that those are some BIG alternatives that I *just know* won't seriously
get used on a day to day basis. One option might be LCG, with *G* for
goggles or glasses. When it comes to naming new things we tend to think of
the most obvious hardware association, which is the glasses rather than
their functional aspects like *Field Sequential* or even further from common
thoughts, *Time-multiplexed stereo*. Then when the common person stares back
with a totally blank look, the explanation about the relationship of this
technology with LC Displays, provides the basis of an understanding.
At least LCD glasses referrs to glasses made with LCD technology, which is
an accurate reference even if not fully descriptive.
