Fixing slides ex post facto

And now a question:  Several years ago I read a review in Shutterbug of
some new product that was designed to help "fix" certain problems with
processed slide film.  It was a liquid solution that you dunk the problem
chip in.  My recollection is that it would reduce over-saturation.  I'm
a little fuzzy on the details; I'm not sure if it was specifically
targeted at under-exposure problems or something a little different.
I'm pretty sure I have the magazine somewhere, so I could go back and
look it up if anyone wants to know more.  I think the review was pretty
favorable, but it would be interesting to hear of some real world
experiences.  Has anyone tried this product?

If this product really works, the above quote could be changed to read

Slide film is more tolerable when slightly under-exposed, and there *is*
something you can do to improve any resultant over-saturation.
