Or, since it's your camera, you can file down that center contact for free
and make a functional and effectivly "modern" hotshoe out of it.
Modern flashes then slide on, though some are a tight fit.
Interestingly, the flash pictures I've taken with the Realist have been
much less prone to red-eye syndrome than photos I've taken with flat
cameras. Cat eyes still glow demonically though.
