***** OOOOPS! I apologize for not commenting! This was mostly because you
did a very good job and I basically agreed with the rules as you proposed
them. I could have at least said that much.

***** Their concern is justified by how unnecessarily over-commercial
everything seems to be becoming. If you maintain a respectable balance
between basically personal 3D sites and the commercial ones, I think
interest can be maintained. You might want to consider having an option
button for visiting only non-commercial links for those who have a strong
feelings about it. Some like myself have links to commercial sites and
visitors seem to be using them!
As to advertisements in movie theaters, I'm a radical and I'm generally only
interested in seeing the movie with previews and maybe a reminder about
popcorn and drinks. Other commercials in the theater deserve tomatoes for
throwing. If I went to see *just commercials*, it would only be for
someone's exceptional collection of *the best of ...* kind of thing.
Otherwise I'd rather stay home.
At this time I think it's good to include commercial sites on the 3D ring
because current technology is important to the overall topic. If they
dominated the ring I would become dissatisfied with it myself. When it comes
to commercial web sites, I visit very few and always for specific
information relating to my perceived needs. I dislike the ad banners
generally but some of them are attractive. Web sites that charge money for
access should not be a part of the ring, IMO.
Thanks Jon for doing such a good job in organizing the web ring. I'm sure it
will grow and play an important role for 3D, P3D and newly 3D interested
persons.
PS: I didn't see anything prohibiting commercial participation. Rule 5
stipulates *more than just a product to sell* and that shouldn't be hard to
do if the product relates to 3D. I liked Jon's comment that an informational
page can be set up for the web ring visitors to land on first.
