Thank you Paul, Larry, and Arie for your responses to my posting:

That method did not produce a firm result, so I offered a
Kodak Stereo (easy to use, not over-valuable) to one of the ground crew.
*(side note - I have been working informally (unpaid) on this
project. I am familiar with the other attempts, but this was
the one I was most wrapped up in. I was on a 24hr notice call.
I felt that it was a spectacular project which I really wanted
to record in stereo. Many of the team had seen my balloon stereos
and would help)
In the event, he would not have had time to use it..... so I accepted
the offer to go myself, driving down to Switzerland with Don Cameron,
the balloon manufacturer. I packed for every stereo eventuality (7 cameras:
2 monos for sequentials, 5-perf, 7 perf, Rittai and Nimslo for quick
ease of use, and VM for the format and number of views on a film).
On arrival, I worked on the final preparation of the capsule (nothing
to do with the fuel system which ultimately failed).
Perhaps unfortunately, I had a minor accident, breaking two fingers.
This would give me time to take photographs...but how? I settled on
the FED and VM, largely because of their easy wind-on. I can only
hope that something good comes out. At least I can
slide-copy any good FED results to another format.
>PaulT>a) Sorry to be so weak in my geography, but where is Chateau D'Oex?
Between Montreux and Gstaad. There is a balloon meet there next week
which will have good opportunities for photographing normal balloons
in the Alps
>PaulT >c) If all else fails, I have a (shareware) software customer in...
I would always be willing to risk lending a Kodak Stereo for a
chance to get pics.
>PaulT >d) If this is a commercial venture expenses are reimbursable.
No, I'm just a stereo ballooning nut. I did have a fantasy of commissioning
<lberlin>The recent, like within the last few days, attempt was from Morroco....
<lberlin>Is this the same as the supposed Swiss attempt?
Different attempt. Same launch window. Better conditions for
photography in Morrocco!
You probably know that a US attempt is now underway... DOES ANYONE
HAVE STEREO PHOTOS OF THE LAUNCH?? (St. Louis)
