I think I successfully epoxied my custom cap together.  It had a 
good (very uneven and over lapping) break that should hold well.  
I painted over the repair with flat black enamal to hide the crack 
line.  Time will tell.  I could do the Dr. T test and drive my car 
over it:)

It really helps to make sure the mating surfaces of the cap and 
bakelite face plate are clean and polished; it really reduces the 
pressure it takes to open and close the cap.

I really can't wait to take some pictures with it.  I'm waiting for
the next clear sunny day to use some Kodachrome 25 in there.  I'll 
report back in a few months (I live near Seattle).
