Another perspective...
As has been discussed on this list in the past, the difference between
f2.7 and f/2.8 most likely only exists in the minds of the marketers;
lens speed wars were common when these cameras were sold.
Rare earth glass not withstanding, the wollensak lenses are triplets,
and not tessar types. Achieving high corner resolutions with triplet
design is difficult at wide apertures. Also, so-called rare earth glass
was also in use on other cameras of W10 vintage, including Realists
(Ektar and Germany lenses) and Belplascas.
Regarding price, the good Revere's I've seen go for more than $225, and
a good W10 was just offered for sale on S3D for less than $900. Still
and all, the W10 must hold the record for the highest cost stereo camera
with triplet lenses!
Glad to hear Dr. T experimenting with wide aperture shots in stereo...
We're together George in our blasphemy... Let the flames begin!
