Transferring old cards to slides

I have an old View-Master packet on the Civil War featuring 21 authentic
black and white Brady photos transfered from his original photos to the V-M
size film and put on reels. The quality of the photos through the viewer on
slide film is far more realistic then seeing these images on cards. This got
me to wonder if it would be possible to take a high-quality vintage stereo
card and transfer it to 35mm film, then place the chips in a Realist mask.
Would the image have a great loss of resolution, or would it be viewable? Has
anyone ever tried this?
