Re: Pseudo-VM? - clarification

Paul mentioned that the ABC Wide World of Sports set had a pseudo reel.
That is interesting since this subject is related to the recent
discussions here on P3D. I haven't seen any commercial pseudo VM views
either as Dr.T mentioned. I wonder if this was due to confusion in
determining which was the left and right by observation rather than an
accident in mounting. The reason I mention this and this might relate to
Paul's other observation in a recent post about aerial 2x2 pairs that
had differing effects when they were reversed or in the right orientation.

I have seen this also in mounting 2x2 aerial shots on a homemade mount
and trying to determine the left and right orientation. (I hadn't solved
the airplane puzzle at that time.;-)) In anycase I had a problem
determining which was the correct orientation because both ways looked
okay to me. After some trial and error I finally determined which was
the correct view and which was the pseudo view. Now the question is why
did I have a problem determining the orientation in that particular view,
since I normally don't and can readily determine when a 3d image is pseudo.
I think (in my case at least) it seems if the depth information recedes
into the background evenly with no objects sticking out at any particular
depth level in the z axis then I run into difficulties. In this case the
pseudo 3d is hard to tell and only after careful study does it become
apparent.

Now regarding incorrect terminology, I lost you on that one. How was it
misused?

Gabriel
