I agree too when he said that no one in their death bed wishes they had
taken more pictures.  That's because pictures are memories and good
memories make *life* more enjoyable.  But I don't agree with you or Grant
when you see a conflict between taking pictures and enjoying a vacation. 

As I said, the best part of the trip for me are mounting the stereo
pictures afterwards!  The thrill of seeing some pictures turning much
better than expected is an experience worth the entire trip and the slight
effort/inconvenience to photograph it.  

Don't you ever wish you had taken more/better pictures from a place you 
have visited and will never visit again?  Don't you wish your parents had
taken stereo pictures of you and your life and vacations when you were young?

I think you are pulling our leg here.  Every picture of you I have seen, you
are holding a stereo camera!  More than one most times!!!
