Might I recommend a slave unit to fire a secondary strobe?  They have such 
things at camera shops.  It's basically a hot shoe with a photo cell built 
in.  When your camera flash fires, it causes the photo cell to fire the 
remote strobe.  I use this with my slide duplicator by placing the slave 
strobe at the end of the duplicator tube.  Then, when my camera strobe 
fires, so does the slave.

It's an inexpensive solution if you already have another strobe.
