Closing expo thoughts...

While I am packing up expo, I would like to thank Joel Alpers for a
great job in organizing expo II. I just cannot believe the time he must
have spent to put everything together, writing an entry form for each
individual entry, etc., etc. Everything is working great thanks to his
efforts.
The quality of expo II is unbelievable, a great sampling of our best work.
It is nice also to see the self-portraits and realize how different we all
look than our mental image of each other. Heck, I was even surprised to see
some of the people I know! Considering that my portrait is already 3
years old, I can assure you that I have traded lots of hair for extra fat.
Still the only weak point of expo II is the general lack of written
feedack. There are many entries that only have one comment (from Chris
Helms). It is ironic to read at the top "please attach extra pages if you
need more space".
For expo III, I propose that we split expo in expo IIIA and IIIB, where A
will contain all the slide format images ("Realist", 2x2, VM, MF) and B all
the print/electronic images (Holmes prints, lenticulars, anaglyphs, View
Magic and various discs and videos). Let A and B travel in opposite
directions. That will reduce the volume of the reviewing work and the
weight of the Expo package (currently at 37 lbs).
Thanks again to Joel for a job well done and also to Elliott whose pioneer
work with Expo I set up the stage for Expo II. Finally, many thanks to
Expo participants for contributing to the world's best stereo image
traveling exhibit.
All I need now is a T-shirt that says "I participated in Expo I and Expo II
and survived to tell the story".
Regards -- George Themelis
